WiseCook
Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 13, 2026
WiseCook ("we", "the app") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
1. Data we collect
Account data (if you sign up):
- Email address (provided by Apple Sign‑In or Google Sign‑In)
- Display name (optional)
- Authentication provider identifier (Apple ID or Google ID)
Content and usage data:
- Recipe URLs you submit for extraction
- Saved recipes, collections, and shopping lists
- Preferences (language, unit system, kitchen equipment)
- Usage counters (for example, number of extractions and applicable limits)
Subscription data (if you purchase Pro or use a trial):
- Subscription status (for example active/expired), product type (monthly/annual), and expiration dates
- Technical transaction/receipt identifiers needed to validate your access (we do not have access to your card details)
Technical and diagnostic data:
- Device identifier (for usage limits when no account exists and for security)
- Error and performance reports (via Sentry) to improve stability
Optional device permissions:
- Microphone and speech recognition: if you enable hands-free mode, audio is used to recognize commands. We do not store your audio recordings.
- Photos: if you choose to pick an image from your library (for example, a recipe image), the app will request photo library access. We do not access your photos without your action.
- Tracking (iOS): on iOS, the app requests your permission via App Tracking Transparency (ATT) before allowing the Meta SDK to associate your activity for advertising campaign measurement. You can deny this permission and the app will continue to work normally. If granted, Meta may receive an advertising identifier (IDFA) for analytics and attribution purposes. You can change this preference at any time from your iOS device Settings.
2. Data we do NOT collect
- We do not collect passwords (authentication is via Apple/Google)
- We do not collect precise location
- We do not collect your contacts
- We do not sell personal data. The Meta SDK may receive analytics and attribution data only if you grant the tracking permission on iOS (see section 1)
3. How we use your data
- Provide the service: extract recipes, save them, and sync them
- Manage subscriptions: validate Pro access and trial periods
- Security and abuse prevention: protect the service and detect abnormal activity
- Improve the app: diagnose errors and performance
- Customer support: respond if you contact us
4. Third-party services
WiseCook uses third-party services to operate. Depending on how you use the app, we may share data with:
- Apple Sign‑In / Google Sign‑In: authentication
- Apple App Store (StoreKit): purchases and subscriptions
- RevenueCat: subscriptions management and validation (subscription status and technical transaction data)
- Anthropic, Groq and/or Hugging Face: AI processing to structure recipes
- Sentry: error and performance monitoring
- Meta (Facebook SDK): for advertising campaign measurement and attribution. Automatic event logging and advertiser ID collection are disabled by default; they are only enabled if you grant the tracking permission (ATT) on iOS. Meta may receive basic app analytics data. See Meta's privacy policy
These services have their own privacy policies. We share the minimum data necessary to provide the service.
5. Storage and security
- Your data is transmitted using encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS)
- Passwords are not stored (authentication is delegated to Apple/Google)
- Communications between the app and the server are encrypted
6. Data retention
We retain your data while you have an active account. If you delete your account:
- Your recipes, collections and preferences are deleted
- Your email and authentication data are deleted from our servers
- Diagnostic data may be kept for a limited time for security and debugging purposes
7. Your rights
In accordance with the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation), you have the right to:
- Access: see what data we have about you
- Rectification: correct inaccurate data
- Erasure: delete your account and your data (Settings > Delete account)
- Portability: request a copy of your data
- Objection: object to the processing of your data
To exercise these rights, contact us at [email protected].
8. Minors
WiseCook is not intended for children under 16 years of age. We do not knowingly collect data from minors. If you are a parent/guardian and believe a minor has provided us with data, please contact us.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy occasionally. Significant changes will be communicated via a notification in the app. Continued use of WiseCook after changes implies acceptance of the updated policy.
